By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. About Vocabee
Vocabee is a vocabulary-building / language-learning app with a real-world “capture” mechanic. Users locate everyday objects in the real world and use the device camera to capture them in order to learn vocabulary through clues, descriptions, and progress tracking.
Vocabee is an educational tool. We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age required in your country) to use Vocabee. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Account and Security
An account is required to use Vocabee. We support sign-in via Apple and Google using Supabase authentication.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and access to your device. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or use of your account.
4. Real-World Safety
Vocabee involves real-world exploration and camera use. You agree to use the App safely and responsibly, including:
- Staying aware of your surroundings
- Following all laws and local rules
- Respecting private property (no trespassing)
- Not using the App while driving or doing anything unsafe
We are not responsible for injuries, accidents, or legal issues resulting from unsafe use of the App.
5. Permissions (Camera)
Vocabee requires camera access to enable the capture feature. If you do not grant required permissions, the App may not function as intended. You can manage permissions in your device settings.
6. Photos and Recognition Processing
Captured photos are saved on your device. Vocabee does not store your photos on our servers.
To provide photo recognition, Vocabee may transmit image data to our servers for processing and then send it to a third-party AI inference provider to identify the object. We do not store your photos on our servers as part of this recognition process.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Misuse, disrupt, or interfere with the App, servers, or networks
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or access the source code except as permitted by law
- Use the App for unlawful, abusive, or harmful purposes
- Circumvent security or access controls
8. Subscriptions and Payments
Vocabee may offer paid features via Apple In-App Purchases / StoreKit.
If you purchase paid features:
- Billing and subscription management are handled by the App Store and subject to Apple’s terms and policies.
- Deleting the App does not automatically cancel subscriptions.
- Refunds and cancellations are handled by Apple in accordance with their policies.
9. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We do not sell user data.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to Vocabee—including the software, design, text, graphics, logos, and educational content—are owned by Raconte Limited or its licensors.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App unless we give written permission.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or use the App in a way that harms users or the integrity/security of the App.
You may stop using the App at any time.
12. Disclaimers
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Raconte Limited is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the App.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“Hong Kong SAR”), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong SAR for disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may notify you through the App or store update notes.
Continued use of Vocabee after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
